Kurnool lies near the south bank of the Tungabhadra River. It came into limelight in 1620 A.D, when it was conquered by Abdul Wahad Khan. His tomb is the main attraction of the city. It gained further prominence under the Mughals and their successors, the Asaf Jahi?s of Hyderabad. Finally it was taken over by the British at the beginning of the 19th century. |
